She is in great condition and has always be stored lovingly in a smoke and pet free home, even inside of a glass case. The majority of the Morimura Dolls were produced from 1915 through 1921 to supply the American market during World War I when German dolls were not in favor. She has the Morimura marker on the back of her neck with 5 MB Japan. She does not stand on her own. The original owner tied a notecard to her hand with detailed information about her. On the card: Born Dec 25, 1906. Christened named Sweet Charlotte by Mrs. Marion Fogerty August 1967. Original owner Dorothy Weed Peterson. Born Dec 28 1900. Given to Dorothys daughter Joan Peterson Ward. She is a unique doll and a great collectible to have! Doll is in good vintage condition. Hair is a bit matted at the back and there is some dried residue along the hairline. Her face and dress still looks nice. There is a thin crack on her left wrist. She was made in Japan in the early 1900 (1915) Morimura Bros made copies of the German Bisque dolls & supplied them to the American Market & Other Markets during World War 1. She has her original glass blown blue eyes. They are not rocker but are stationary. Her brown mohair wig is antique & original. Her clothing looks vintage / old but maybe a replaced outfit but not sure. Her clothing has some wear but it is old and looks good on her. She also has some paint rubs to her cheeks but it is not bad. Morimura Brothers of Japan (MB). DOLL MARKINGS: Circle MB (Morimura Bros Logo) / Japan ANTIQUE, VINTAGE OR MODERN: Antique. MATERIAL: She has a bisque head and a composition straight leg body Her body’s stringing is good. EYES: She has blue glass stationary eyes. FACE: She has a lovely coloring in her face & an open mouth with 2 teeth. She is a character baby. HAIR: She is original mohair brown. CLOTHING: She wears a cream cotton baby dress. She has a cream under slip & pantaloons. Her stockings are cream but her booties are knitted pink. Her dress has some wear due to age. DOLL CONDITION: She is a very sweet antique Japanese doll. She has no breaks or chips to her bisque head. She has some paint rubs on her cheek a little. Her composition body has some normal wear. Her clothing is vintage / old & has some wear It looks authentic to her but maybe handmade and a replacement. She is a lovely Morimura Antique doll.
