Antique original baby doll 1920s Bye lo baby doll, a rare vintage All bisque porcelain baby doll 5 made in Japan. This is an amazing rare vintage bye lo baby doll! A 1920s antique baby doll with a stunning blue-eyed biscuit head and body. He first Bye-Los came on composition bodies, but Mrs. Putnam was not happy with the hard body and immediately designed the soft cloth body, so the composition-bodied dolls are more rare. Dressed in antique cotton clothes. There is also an wicker stroller 9″ x 7″and white lace blanket. The doll, which resembles the natural features of a newborn baby, is a rarity among avid doll collectors and lovers of antique toys. Gorgeous painted facial features, non-sleep blue eyes, ruddy cheeks. Closed mouth with lip color, porcelain biscuit head and body. Complete with white clothing that includes gown, bonnet, diaper. Fresh out of an attic are these twelve stone bisque dolls. All but one have fixed arms and legs. The tallest googly eye doll has swinging arms. Group of 12 antique vintage collectible porcelain bisque dolls, pre-WWII, and probably from the 1920s to the 1930s. Eleven (11) are clearly marked with JAPAN on them, while one has no markings (the doll with the dark green hair). All the dolls are in very good condition. One Doll, the DutchBoy, has part of his foot chipped off. Several of the dolls arms have come off, but are still included and can easily be re-assembled by a knowledgeable doll collector. Ten (10) of the dolls are jointed. Some of the dolls are fully dressed as seen in all the photos. In one of the photos, a ruler on the left indicates the height of the dolls, which are about 3-1/2 inches tall. All the dolls are approximately this height. This is truly a lovely and adorable collection, rarely offered in such a nice early set. Also included is an EXTRA set of dolls arms, in the event this is needed one day on any of the dolls.. Japanese folk doll, inu hariko, from the Taisho period, c. Similar to the more widely available papier-mache versions this folk toy is understood to be crafted of shoufu-nori paste and kiri wood sawdust and covered with gofun (crushed oyster shell). Hand made costume and hand painted body decoration in bright flamboyant colours. Presented in the classic pose with all its charm accessories. Traditionally presented to noble mothers in maternity rooms it was intended to offer protection for mothers during childbirth and protection for new born children. Basket and drum charms for health of the infant and happiness (basket to wash down illness and evilness, drum for baby-sitting) combined charm to create strong family bond and family happiness. Comes with glass display case and plinth to which the doll is fixed. Dog and accessories are in very good condition throughout, they have been protected from direct sunlight. The glass case frame and plinth requires waxing if you prefer a polished appearance and glass requires polishing compound to clean age related residues.
