This cute 19 Doll dressed as a sailor boy was imported from Japan by Morimura Brothers. During WW1 German dolls were not available for sale in the USA. This company supplied dolls resembling German Dolls from 1915 – 1926. The bisque head is marked with MB, Japan, 4. No chips, cracks or hairlines or wig pulls. Blue Stationary eyes with painted lower lashes. Blonde Human Hair Wig. The ball-jointed composition body has been repainted and is in very good condition other than some slight damage to the neck area (please see picture). The doll is dressed in newer sailor style clothes which were popular for children and dolls during the early 1900’s. The white leather doll shoes are the German-style doll shoe with the broader toe area. From a smoke-free and pet-free home. Please examine the pictures as they are part of the description. For sale is a superb antique Japanese all-bisque doll presented in her original-style trunk with a wonderful wardrobe of seven different outfits! This charming little lady is a fantastic example of 1920s-1930s Japanese export dolls that captured hearts worldwide. Height : Approximately 5.5 inches tall. Material : All-bisque construction (head, torso, arms, and legs). Marking : Clearly stamped “MADE IN JAPAN” on the upper back (see photos). Features : Jointed arms at the shoulders, molded blonde hair with darling blue bows, sweet painted facial features with rosy cheeks, blue eyes, and a gentle smile. Painted white socks and reddish-brown Mary Jane style shoes. Presentation : Currently dressed in a lovely white floral print dress with lace trim and a waist bow – one of the sweetest outfits in the set! The Trunk & Wardrobe. This delightful set includes a compact rectangular trunk/box (with lid) perfect for storage or display. Accompanying the doll is an impressive collection of seven period outfits. The white floral dress with lace (currently worn). Black & white gingham romper/dress. Blue & white striped top with coordinating bottoms. Red polka dot dress with white lace accents. Black & white checkered romper. Cream-colored lace-trimmed pantalets or bloomers with decorative buttons. Plus additional slips, undergarments, and accessories shown. The clothing features a variety of charming vintage fabrics – ginghams, polka dots, stripes, and delicate laces – all perfectly scaled for this miniature beauty. Many pieces show wonderful hand-sewn details typical of the era. Condition: Excellent antique condition for its 90+ years! The bisque is smooth with good original paint. Wonderful little Nippon baby in original condition! Marked Nippon, 601 also numbers NO76018 and a stylized letter F. Nice blue original sleep eyes function as they should. Light brown human hair wig. Strung well, sits up. Composition body is in remarkably good condition for age. Fingers and toes have original red lines. 5 piece costume is really adorable, sweater has a tag that says ” wool and rayon hand made” at collar but is certainly very old, soft. It has pink details and pink silk ribbon. Pink knit panties may be newer. Pink tam made of some soft yarn, possibly Angora. The knit booties fit well and match the sweater. For the purist this is a sweet little doll with precious little little outfit, ready to tuck in a cabinet.
