Not mint but displays well. Dolls have been wiped down with a damp cloth but could use a cleaning. Head has no repaints, reroots, splits, nips, trimmed or empty plugs. Face paint is complete. Hair appears to be in the original set. Dot of green at both earing holes. Body marked Midge 1962/Barbie 1958 with tight arms and hips. Most finger and toe polish. She will come dressed in her original swimsuit. Also includes her booklet and open toe shoes with one marked Japan in a new cello baggie, wire stand, replacement liner, and box. Box has shelf wear with one repaired corner. There is no “best offer” option on this listing. This beautiful bubble cut is the first issue, like ponytail 5, they have the greasy face. That is what I used to identify her as the first issue. Included are doll stand, booklet, shoes and sunglasses. The last 3 are in its sealed package. This doll has been around for more than 60 years. The box has some imperfections. The doll has an almost imperceptible minor damage just under the nose (between nose and upper lip). I had to use a magnifier in person however on the photo it can be seen more clearly. It looks like there is some yellowing of the back bottom of the swimsuit. Please check the pictures and my profile as they are part of the description. Box translation : Modernized Kokeshi Artist : Chieko-San Awards : All Japan Kokeshi Competition prize winner Gunma Prefecture Kokeshi Competition Governors Award winner. Vintage Japanese Sosaku Kokeshi. Sosaku is a term that literally translated as “creative” and those creative koseshi allow the artist complete freedom in terms of shape, design and color while traditional kokeshi exhibits a similar recognizable style and character. The history of creative kokeshi is quite new and they were developed after World War II. They are not particular to a specific region of Japan and generally creative kokeshi artists are found in cities. This vintage kokeshi has been in the original box in storage since 1960s, 1970s.
