ORIGINAL 1959 BRUNETTE #2 PONYTAIL BARBIE. Includes True #2 Stand Made From #1 Pedestal Base. Most brunette #1 and #2 Ponytails can look harsh because of their coloring, but not this gal. She has a soft, very pretty face. Her hair is long and thick; her ponytail has been retied. Her body is extremely nice, her neck knob is tight and secure. She has no issues. She has the early body with “Japan” stamped in a small box on the bottom of her foot instead of the later, larger “Japan” written along the bottom of the foot. Her finger and toenail paint is complete. She is a near mint doll; extremely nice. Also included are the original swimsuit, sunglasses, shoes, and #2 stand. Very few number 2 stands were made from the two-pronged #1 pedestal base. Mattel had some #1 bases leftover when they changed the feet on the #1 Ponytail doll and made the #2 doll with the same face but no holes in her feet. This base is extremely rare, but does have chips along the bottom edge. I noticed that if it is placed on something black, you don’t see the chips; they seem to disappear. Her box is listed in a separate listing. I will consider including it with the doll, depending on the sale price of the doll. This beauty is one of the ultimate Barbie collector dolls.
