Vintage Barbie Doll American Girl Transitional Bubble Cut 1965 Rare Titian. She is a transitional bubble cut american girl she has the american girl markings on the rim of her neck Copyr. As shown in the close up. They are called American Girl Transitional Side Part Bubble Cuts in references and this confuses everyone. She is NOT a European Side Part that comes with the sewn thatching in their hair they are different bubble cut dolls. She is also not the common 1962 and on, regular bubble cut that people confuse and call “has american girl face” because the face has similarities of an american girl. This is NOT the same as the Euro Side part, the AG marked transitional bubbles are actually harder to find. If you search the term bubble cut side part american girl transitional you will pull up a few references about the american girl transitional barbie. These are the rarest of all bubble cuts as per the references. She has a thick separation part with no plugs or plug holes there shown in the close ups, also has a extra plug in the front shown in picture #3. She has more of a poofy bouffant hair on the side not parted, which is unusual for these transitional dolls normally they do not have as much hair as her. She has straight legs not bend legs. This is an original 1960’s doll not a reproduction and not a reroot. She is all original. She comes with her box and her swimsuit, no other accessories. Please read full description down below. She has titian color red hair with Corral lips, nails, and toes. She comes from my mothers estate. The nail polish is about 85% and toe polish 80%. She is a gorgeous displayable doll and she only has minor flaws. Hair is very thick and nicely set no missing plugs. No green ears(or green anywhere), chews, nips, splits, limbs are tight and holds pose. She has no major damage. Makeup minor rubs to the brows mostly at the edges, minor rubs to the lips most noticeable one near the center top lip one side, she has her eye shadow, the eyeliner on one side still present however some loss not as thick as the other other eyeliner. She has a few minor spec size color stains on the legs and arms. She has a pinkish red minor color spot on the back of her leg most likely from the swimsuit. She has minimal wear scratches mostly surface looks to be from a stand holding her at one time and nothing major the most noticeable one on her back almost on her shoulder shown in picture. Her feet a few minor scratch ding marks I think it from her wearing shoes at one time and it is minor. One minor ding mark back of neck shown in close up. Her one arm has a minor skin tag blemish which I think is a factory flaw see close up. Her head rim has extra plastic over the rim which is from the factory see close up with her markings. Also there is a yellow mark there not sure what that is but it is inside and does not show outside. Her leg rim toward the inside where it attaches has small extra factory plastic also. Swimsuit suit no holes or tears. Few minor snags, minor edge wear around the crotch area, minor soil stains but overall is in good displayable shape. The box has damage. It is kind of in my opinion in rough shape especially the top portion. Missing flap, side splits which needs to be taped they are long, wear. If you need any more pictures or have any questions please message me. These transitional dolls are actually made using the American Girl Face Mold that is why they have the American girl markings on them. The dolls without the American girls marking on the rim of the neck are not the transitional dolls. The term side part also confuses everyone as they do have a factory combed side parts however it is not like the Euro side parts which were sewn into a side part. The transitional’s have different styles of hair. They have side part that can start at the front with an extra hair plug and the curl, without the extra plug, and some start from the back. They all have a empty gap of no roots or root holes that is intentional by Mattel because they are supposed to have a part there. So even though you may be able to move some of the hair if you try to cover the part it will look funny because of the gap. Some of transitional’s also have a factory hair setting product that makes them completely unmovable. Mattel was known to play around with body parts and features of dolls. Like the factory buns and braids, #3 heads on #4 bodies, painted leg dolls etc. There are two versions of the transitional ag bubbles. 1965 low color has the ag markings on the neck rim they come on the straight leg midge barbie body. The 1966 version has the ag marking on the neck rim they are high color and have bendable legs. There are also transitional dolls that have a side part and the American Girl face. They were transitional dolls, made during the transition from a side-part Bubblecut to the American Girl. You can easily identify the transitional doll because her head will have the traditional American Girl Markings on the inner rim of her head. These are probably the rarest and most valuable Bubblecut Barbie dolls. Quote from one of the references available on this doll.
