Antique 1800s Victorian Porcelain Bisque Doll Lot. Boy & Girl, 7” These two dolls came to me together. They may be Hertwig dolls or Nippon dolls. The last photo shows a Hertwig catalog with the same girl’s head. Yet I think the back of her neck may say Japan, which might indicate Nippon would have to check. I have noticed that the Japanese copied many German dolls and dollhouse items at that time. The pair are very sweet together! Both have porcelain heads, hands and feet. The bodies are handstitched. They are dressed in underclothing, and this is worn and has holes. They likely originally had clothing over this. The girl wears finely knit bloomers which flare outward at the cuffs, with a low neckline. She wears two blue bows in her hair. Both dolls are blonde with blue eyes. Their feet have painted reddish brown shoes. The bisque is stained and has paint loss. Please see photos for condition and measurements. Listing is for two dolls and does not include other items.
