Vintage 1965 -67 Stock # 1070 Mattel AMERICAN GIRL BARBIE Blonde – with original box & outfit! You dont see these every day! Why not treat yourself or surprise the vintage Barbie lover in your life? Mattel initially called this doll the” Bendable Leg” Barbie rather than the “American Girl” Barbie. But because of her page-boy style hair, it was eventually changed to the American Girl. This is a Beautiful, Blonde Barbie doll in Very Good condition complete with the original box & outfit. The correct Barbie catalogue booklet and “gold wire” stand are inside the box. Box has been opened and doll taken out of the package, as you can see, but does not look to have seen any hard play. Certainly, not since we have owned it. She has blonde hair as marked on the box/bottom. As you can see, the stand is poking out of the box bottom inside as it original came. There are some light scratches on the back (see pic). She has some light face paint rubs. Most of the fingernail paint is intact. No touch-ups or alterations. The hair is in lovely shape, with all plugs present and has not been cut or altered in any way. Arms and legs are tight and move/pose well. The original one-piece striped swim-suit is tagged with both fabric tags, Barbie & Japan and is in excellent shape. The turquoise open-toe heels are MINT and still sealed in the original baggie from the factory. CLEAR “X” STAND NOT INCLUDED. The box has seen better days with 3 corners split and repaired with scotch tape, also paper wear and a price sticker removal mark. The box bottom has creasing and shelf wear. They are both still worth having for display. They are clean, bright and not faded. Really, hard to imagine they have survived, in any condition given they are approaching 55 years of age! She is a truly lovely example of the American Girl doll, as you can see from the photographs, and our pricing reflects the few flaws described. She would be a wonderful addition to any vintage, Barbie collection! American Girl Barbie 1965 1967. And, she wasn’t the only one that got bendable legs that year; so did Ken, Allan, Midge and Skipper. Barbie had blue eyes, various lip colors, and a choice of light blonde, ash blonde, yellow blonde, titian/red, brunette, platinum blonde hair colors. Most American Girl dolls had a shorter page-boy style haircut, but there are some harder to find dolls with bubble cut, side-part, and longer middle-part styles. These dolls sell for more on the secondary market. Some of these rare dolls came with high color faces as well. The first issue dolls had indented intaglio markings (like Miss Barbie), but the later issue dolls came with the raised intaglio marks on her bottom. She’s sure a beauty, and one of my favorites! Pend Made In Japan. Included with the doll in the box were her one-piece striped swim-suit, turquoise open-toe heels, gold wire stand and booklet.
