Yamanaka Sanpei was a distinguished figure in the Kokeshi community, earning over 20 awards for his exquisite work, including the prestigious “Prime Minister Award” in 1979. His Kokeshi dolls are celebrated for capturing the innocence and wonder of children and their view of the world. Beyond his Kokeshi artistry, Sanpei-san was also an accomplished photographer, receiving numerous accolades for his photography in the 1960s.
