Here’s an iconic beauty from 1960, a #4 Blonde Ponytail Barbie! She looks as fresh as she was on the toy store shelf back in the day. She looks like she has a little “attitude”, but it’s not easy being an icon; She has her original zebra swimsuit, white cats eye sunglasses, mules, and Barbie and Ken fashion booklet. She comes in a 35th Anniversary Barbie reproduction box with the Anniversary 2 piece plastic doll stand. She has had some retouching to her make-up, and her hair was professionally tied into the original style with a hard curl at the bottom of the ponytail. She doesn’t have any green ear staining, nose nips, haircuts, or bad smells. She will look great in any vintage Barbie fashion that she models. I don’t rate anything as “Mint” unless I’ve just removed it from the original packaging. Barbie has an even skin tone that hasn’t darkened over time from smoke or other issues. Her hair looks great and has been professionally restyled into the original set. She has thick mohair ringlet bangs that have cute little curls and no frizz. The rest of her hair has a lot of shine, and the ponytail bottom has a nice hard curl. She doesn’t have any hair cuts, but I notice that she has an empty hair plug just in front of her right ear, see pics #8 & 9. I don’t notice this until I was looking at her really closely for awhile. Barbie’s eyebrows were color-washed as they were a little light, and her scarlet lips were retouched as they had rubs. She was also given some blush, so she has a vibrant glow: She has a hint of original smokey grey eye shadow. She doesn’t have any green ear staining, and has never been treated for that. Both ears seem to have 2 tap marks that are very close together, so they actually read as a single hole at a normal viewing distance. Barbie will come with some pearl on filament earrings that will never stain her head. No nose nips, or neck splits. Her Near Mint solid vinyl body is marked BarbieR MCMLVIII on her right butt cheek. Her left butt cheek has a B104, or it might be B194 mark on it. She has all of her nail polish and tight joints. Her body is pretty even in coloring, though her legs might be the slightest bit tanner than the rest of her. Her body is pretty smooth for a #4 body; they often have dimples in the solid vinyl and uneven edges and lines around the hips. This girl has the typical factory mold lines around her hips that #4 dolls typically have. She has a 1/2″ horizontal mold line at her upper thigh at the front of her left leg, and 2 faint lines 3/16″ at the back this leg, see pics #11 & 12. Her swimsuit would cover these lines. She has a tiny dimple on the outside of her left mid-thigh, and a dimple at her lower left back calf. She doesn’t have any scratches on her torso front or back, but she does have a light brown freckle at her left mid-back, about the size of a pinhead, see pic #12. Her original zebra swimsuit is in Near Mint shape; it doesn’t have any holes or runs. It’s very clean, but it does have an 1/2 of stitching around the left back leg opening that has come undone. Barbie’s white sunglasses look good; the lenses are in great shape. I will mention that the light reflection in the left lense in pic #3 is just that, a light reflection, not a tear in the lense. One of the glasses’ arms opens a little wide, while the other arm is kind of tight, but I think they will display on Barbie just fine. Her black mules are marked Japan on the bottom of one shoe. The Japan shoe has a split strap. The brand new 2 piece reproduction clear stand will display her nicely when she isn’t in her reproduction box. The reproduction box is marked Blonde on the bottom panel. The lid has long subtle creases along each side, see pic #2. The creases are “soft” and follow along inside of the actual box edges. The box is bright and clean with the inside liner, and it will display Barbie nicely until she decides what outfit to wear: The pink Barbie and Ken fashion booklet is in great shape; it’s complete with no writing inside. The back cover is wrinkly; I think it was glued to something at one time. It has 2 added paper inserts, one for Midge, with the Dream House ad on the other side; the other is stapled to the back cover, and is “Barbie Sings”.
