Wonderful pair of vintage Japanese handpainted mask face cloth dolls, each mounted on wooden base. Circa 1920’s to 1940’s. 14 tall for dolls, silk or mohair wigs, side glancing charming eyes to coyly woo you! They have considerable surface wear which I did not attempt to clean, but otherwise are in good intact condition. Red dress dye has transferred to arms and some areas of legs from storage; shoe seams are open on some; general surface wear as shown in photos. Not perfect, but are an interesting pair that I’ve never encountered before and with a little attention could be even more lovely on display. Wood bases have faded ID on bottom that I cannot read; chips on the wood as shown. Please look closely at photos for details to see the used condition.
