Vintage Collectible Japanese Geisha Doll. Here is a lovely and elegant geisha dressed in the manner of the Edo Period. Her dark brown silk kimono with embroidered floral train, and her Ivory obi, make quite a statement. Experienced geisha do not wear highly elaborate kimonos, and their sleeves are much shorter than those of their “little sisters” – the “maiko” or geisha in training. This figurine poses with a traditional 3-stringed “samisen” instrument and carries a sprig of flowers as she comes into the tea house to entertain guests. Her hair is a unique henna color which was fashionable in Tokyo in the 1700’s. This is a fantastic small 14 tall doll with more style and demeanor than dolls much taller and older than she. A truly great find for those enamored by the Japanese dolls from the mid-2000 century. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Cultures & Ethnicities\Asian\1900-Now\Japanese\Dolls”.
