Rare Vintage Japanese Genuine Large Hakata Doll Clay Samurai Figurine. In very good condition. Sword handle repair barely noticeable. Minor scratches and blemishes. 44 cm 17.5. 6 lb 2 oz weight. Kabuki Dancer performing Kuroda Bushi, the true story of a Samurai Warrior named Mori Tahei who was send on an errand by his master Lord Kuroda. Tahei was a heavy drinker and was ordered to stay sober on this mission. He was sent top meet with another warlord, who also liked his Sake. This warlord offered Tahei a drink, which he first refused, until it became a bet. If he could drink a large amount of sake (rumored at 3 liters) from the bowl he is carrying, he could have asked for anything in his host’s possession. Tahei emptied the bowl and asked for the spear he is holding. This spear was one of three such fabled weapons made by master armorers of that day. It is on display in the Fukoaka Museum. A statue of Tahei is located in front of the same museum. The artisan studio that made this figure is The Hakata Doll Association, one of only seven such studios during the modern heyday (1950-55). It is a low-fired ceramic with a bisque finish, and handmade by a single artisan. In 1955, Japan started mass producing Hakata Dolls for export. Vintage early 60’s. Barbie Midge carrying case. Two Midge Dolls Bubble Cut hair cuts, printed on the bottom of a foot on each of them JAPAN. There is a little blueish-green tint near the ears of the blond bubble cut Midge doll (we understand that comes with age, we leave this for a collector to clean or do what collectors do). Printed on the bottom of a foot JAPAN. There is a puzzle box, it says 100 pieces, we put it together and it is missing one piece (see photo). The box is still very cool for display. The little sundae cup with a small crack in the clear part (see photo) is a cool and rare piece, we found on the internet it is a’FRANCIE’66. Dance Party Ice Cream Sundae. There is a Tammy Doll Travel Along Suitcase Black Round Airline Case, the hinges work on it We do not know what accessories or cloths are authentic and what may have been made by or for the child who played with his set. Some of the cloths are labeled with Barbie. Some are not labeled, maybe handmade or a different company, we are not sure. There is a striped set that is labeled Ken. A plaid skirt maybe labled GiGi. The Barbie/Midge case is vintage, the inside shows a lot of age and playing with. It is nicer looking on the outside then the inside (please see photos and video). We are adding it to this lot as the Midge dolls were laying in it. The case (like the puzzle box) sure does have some amazing retro graphics. That is what I was attracted to. We wre tempted to clean them some but fell this should be up to a collector. The clothes are not cleaned or ironed, they are as they were found. There is a little foxing on some but we will let a collector do their vinegar cleaning magic, we do not do this with all respect. We try to describe things the best we can, the photos are a help for you to see too. Please look at the photos we took, they are a big part of our description. Barbie Francie w Little Bow Pink Dress #1483 Doll and Shoes Made in Japan
As always, please consider my pictures part of my. Description, they are meant to aid and describe the items conditions just in case I overlooked something in my details/ description below. I do try to provide you with lots of pictures. VTG Francie 1966, see behind pic, medium blond hair, dressed in Little Bow Pink dress #1463 she is wearing Francie pink shoes, very soft and pliable. Close up pics of eye lashes, just a little nip on nose. Her hair has still a nice curl, tried to detail with pictures. Even though the dress is a bit big on her, pink dress and shoes, marked Japan, go nicely together. Francie is in lovely vintage condition, lots of hair, no missing plugs, medium blond hair, no reddish tones, pictures are a little off on the color. Each lower leg has just the tiniest dark spot, see pictures. And some superficial indentations near lower foot. Not immediately noticeable but wanted to mention. Dress is in original not washed condition; it is missing one top button and needs both loops. Has one original button, see picture. I did not close the dress on her. And one sleeve could use just a couple of stitches on the sleeve. Did I forget anything? Only human, so do please ask away. I do try to research in the hope to get it right. Stand, Dolls, and any props, if present, are NOT included. Smoke free, pet free. I cannot always tell if properly handled, stored, and it what. Do keep in mind.
