Vintage original Nishi Doll “Seven Hats Dance, ” made in Japan by Nishi & Co. This beautiful traditional Japanese display doll depicts the Seven Hats Dance, also known as Nanamaigasa, associated with the Kabuki play Musume Dojoji. She wears an elaborate red and gold brocade kimono, decorative obi, floral hair ornaments, and carries the distinctive group of ceremonial dance hats. The original Nishi Doll / Nishi & Co. / Made in Japan label remains attached underneath the red wooden base. Approximate height: 20 inches, including the base and floral headdress. The red base contains a wind-up music and rotating mechanism; however, the mechanism is currently not working. The doll does not rotate and the music does not play. Some internal musical movement can be felt, but the winding control appears stuck. It has not been forced or opened. Vintage condition with visible age-related wear. The kimono has loose threads, fraying, worn areas, and fabric deterioration, particularly around the lower front and back. The hair and ornaments have some loose fibers, and one of the dance hats shows interior wear. The red base has scratches and surface wear. Please review every photograph carefully, including the close-ups of the fabric wear, hair, hats, base, and original Nishi label. Photographs are part of the description. No repairs have been attempted.
