12 Vintage Porcelain JAPAN Bisque Dolls, 1920s 1930s, RARE COLLECTION OFFERED
Group of 12 antique vintage collectible porcelain bisque dolls, pre-WWII, and probably from the 1920s to the 1930s. Eleven (11) are clearly marked with JAPAN on them, while one has no markings (the doll with the dark green hair). All the dolls are in very good condition. One Doll, the DutchBoy, has part of his foot chipped off. Several of the dolls arms have come off, but are still included and can easily be re-assembled by a knowledgeable doll collector. Ten (10) of the dolls are jointed. Some of the dolls are fully dressed as seen in all the photos. In one of the photos, a ruler on the left indicates the height of the dolls, which are about 3-1/2 inches tall. All the dolls are approximately this height. This is truly a lovely and adorable collection, rarely offered in such a nice early set. Also included is an EXTRA set of dolls arms, in the event this is needed one day on any of the dolls.. Here’s a rare boxed set of “Around the World” Bisque Frozen Charlotte Penny Dolls. These dolls are still in the original box. Each doll is marked Japan on the back, and each doll measures about 2.75 tall. We find no chips or cracks. The Box is original, with minor wear and tear, and is marked “2636 Made in Japan” on the bottom. A great find for the vintage doll collector or a great display item. For sale is a very rare bisque set of WW 1 Soldiers with their horse and carrying a US flag. They also come with their original box. They are 3 and some a little more in height. They are in amazingly good condition for their age. They are called dough boys I believe. I will sell them exactly as I found them in their box and all are present. None seem to be missing from the set. The only thing I could find I described above in condition description. Even the box is in very good condition with minor tears and bends on the edges. This is a darling set of quintuplet dolls made in the 1930’s after the Dionne quintuplets were born. They are 5 1/4 high, arms and legs move. They are attached with string. The paint on their faces is in very good condition; reddish blonde hair, blue eyes, dark brows, rosy cheeks and a pink mouth. The dolls mouths are open a little in order to hold on to the paper pacifier. There are 2 pacifiers that have bent a little and are somewhat hard to insert. The dolls come with their own dress, pacifier, diaper and an extra diaper in each box. There is a cute printed dress on each doll and. 3 extra dresses and 2 jump suits are included. I don’t know if these are original or not. 2 of the dresses are cut out but not sewn. Each doll is in it’s own box, no lid. Overall condition is excellent. These have been stored for a long time, they look brand new. Dolls are marked on their backs: Made in Japan. Most of it was from the 1930s & 1940s. (neat thing about him — his arms actually move as they are jointed with string bands) DESCRIPTION : This is a nice, early bisque figure of Mickey Mouse from the 1930s. It features ” movable arms ” (each side has elastic string jointed bisque arms). It is marked Mickey Mouse on the front & Walt E. Disney and Made in Japan on the back. See pics 3 & 5. CONDITION : Overall in “GOOD CONDITION”. It does have some paint wear here and there… Showing some small white marks. He also has a small chip in his base but… Is not noticeable when he is standing — see pics 6 & 7. Seeing as he is ” 85 or so year’s old “… Still in pretty good condition for his age. MATERIALS : Factory hand painted bisque with elastic band string jointed bisque arms. DIMENSIONS : Measures about 6 tall from base/feet to the tip of his left ear. I found the dress on a frozen leg Nancy Ann so this doll is a replacement doll. Let me tell you about her. She is marked Made in Japan (see photo). I have strung her with Nancy Ann molded socks and short arms. And her original top notch head is wigged with a Nancy Ann original wig. She has molded bangs and beautiful face paint. Ribbon is a replacement and is in a halo around her wig. Panties are original Nancy Ann international doll panties. This little cutie is the darling size of the Japan dolls a little shorter than the pudgy tummy dolls. The RARE dress is in great condition, no holes or tears. The blue has a little fading and I dont know if the gold ribbon was originally red or always gold. Overall this is a marvelous find for any collector of NANCY ANN. Her face paint looks to be sort of messy around the eyes and lips. Please keep in mind that the doll itself is a Made in Japan and is a replacement doll. The DRESS is original Nancy Ann. If someone has an original Nancy Ann Japan 1146 or Japan with FAN or Japan, rather than Made in Japan, This is a bargain dress! The dress also looks darling on any other Nancy Ann doll. Personally, I have been collecting Nancy Ann for about 15 years and my grandmother and aunt worked in the factory in San Francisco. I think this little one has beautiful face paint, but you are correct in noting that the Made in Japan dolls have a “different” look. To me this one’s face looks a bit like the Made in Japan babies. The blue has a little fading and I dont know if the gold ribbon was originally red or always gold. Overall this is a marvelous find for any collector of NANCY ANN. Her face paint looks to be sort of messy around the eyes and lips. Please keep in mind that the doll itself is a Made in Japan and is a replacement doll. The DRESS is original Nancy Ann. If someone has an original Nancy Ann Japan 1146 or Japan with FAN or Japan, rather than Made in Japan, This is a bargain dress! The dress also looks darling on any other Nancy Ann doll. Personally, I have been collecting Nancy Ann for about 15 years and my grandmother and aunt worked in the factory in San Francisco. I think this little one has beautiful face paint, but you are correct in noting that the Made in Japan dolls have a “different” look. To me this one’s face looks a bit like the Made in Japan babies.
