This is a handmade Japanese Kokeshi Doll, signed by the artist. The doll represents the Daughter of Winter, wearing a large snow coat. It was manufactured in Japan and is part of a collectible series. Item is approximately 11 inches tall (measurements included with photos). The grandfather Doctor Alexis Shelokov was born in China to Russian parents and migrated to the United States in 1930. He was an active participant in Polio treatment. His son, Doctor Alexis Shelokov was a noted pediatric surgeon in Dallas Texas where he specialized in Scoliosis treatment. He passed away in 2015 and is survived by his wife Doctor Georgiana Shelokov-Gibson a noted doctor in Dallas as well.
