Here’s a luscious Blonde #4 Barbie Ponytail from 1960! She is quite a looker, and she is complete with original accessories, including the black/white swimsuit, pink Barbie and Ken fashion booklet , and of course white cats eye sunglasses. Everything shown here is original vintage Mattel except for the 35th Anniversary Repro Box. Barbie has had some make-up restoration, as she had a few typical age issues. But as you can see, she looks vibrant and fresh like she did 59 years ago! Barbie’s shiny blonde hair been professionally retied into the topknot, with a hard curl at the ponytail bottom. Her tomato red lips had some rubbing and her eyebrows were light, so she has been retouched with water based acrylic paint. She also got a little acrylic color wash for blush. All of the restoration work is removable with soap and water if you don’t like it. She doesn’t have any neck tears, nose nips, or missing hair plugs. If you have a question that I haven’t answered in my description, please ask me. This sultry girl has shiny blonde hair, lots of curly mohair poodle bangs, and a hard curl at the bottom of her retied ponytail. Her mohair bangs are 2 sweet rows of little ringlet curls. She has a few stray hairs, but no missing hair plugs. Her face’s skin tone has remained light, and has not darkened from smoke or molds. As I mentioned above, her brows were retouched as they had faded. Her lips had some rubbing, so they were also retouched, and she was given a little blush, so she has a healthy glow! She still has some smokey grey eyeshadow which is original. She doesn’t have any neck tears or nose nips. Barbie is wearing pearl on filament earrings that will never stain her head. Her left ear has a speck of green inside the earring hole, but it has not stained the head, see pic #8. Barbie’s right ear has a small spot of green which is covered by the replaced earring she is wearing. See pic #9 for a close-up. I will note that Barbie has a faint scratch to the outside of her left eye’s eye liner. You can see this in all of the close-up head shots, but you won’t notice it at a normal viewing distance. I’m very near-sighted, and I look at the dolls super closely, so I do notice minute details. Barbie’s solid vinyl body is in Excellent shape, with all of her nail polish. I like the heavier, rubbery feel of the solid body #4 dolls. She has a pin point dark speck visible on the left side of her neck in the close-up pics that wiped off. Her body doesn’t have any stains, though I will note that her legs are slightly tanner than the rest of her body. That seems to happen frequently to #4 dolls, as the more rubbery vinyl absorbs oils from hands over the years. She is marked on the right butt cheek, BarbieR, Pats Pend, cMCMLVIII, by Mattel Inc. On her left butt cheek she has a number B180. There are some light small horizontal indent marks at the hips and top of her legs that are typical mold markings on #4 dolls; these marks show a little in the body pics #11 and #12. I think Barbie has stubbed her right big toe slightly; her right big toe is 1/32nd shorter than her left. Since she has all of her toe nail polish on, it’s hard to spot the difference. Her joints are nice and tight, no swingy limbs. Barbie’s black and white swimsuit is in Excellent condition; it looks good with no holes or runs, but the elastic is somewhat stretched out at the top. The swimsuit will stay up for display, but no diving into the pool; Her black mules are correctly marked Japan on the bottom of the right shoe, but the right shoe has a split strap. Barbie has vintage white sunglasses in good shape with working arms and intact lenses. There is a small piece of tape on the lower rim/frame of the left lense; the tape is blue and I couldn’t get it off easily, so I painted over the tape with white acrylic paint. It’s not very noticeable unless you look closely. I don’t know why the tape was on the glasses, as the frame is not broken. The black wire stand is in great shape; most of the enamel is present except for a little spot where the arms joint the vertical piece, and a little spot at the base where it joins the vertical piece. The Barbie and Ken pink fashion booklet is unmarked inside and complete. It has some slight creasing on the upper right corner. The 35th anniversary repro box looks clean and bright overall; it’s marked Blond on the bottom end of the lid. The box looks great and it will display Barbie nicely until she decides to change her outfit. This pretty girl will be a star in your vintage Barbie display!
