Beautiful, special “Test Market” Skipper with titian hair! You’ll notice her wider stance than other Skipper dolls, her very different hair texture, the way JAPAN is written on her foot from toe to heel, and the fact that there are no marks under her neck rim, as well as her slightly shorter stature. At her age, she’s not perfect, so please note the following and be sure to take a look at ALL of the photos. Her hair seems shorter than expected, and yet not cut in the way a child normally cuts hair, so I’m not sure if it has just broken off with time, or if this was part of her early issue test market status (maybe Mattel was trying out different hair shapes). I have washed and conditioned her hair (and conditioned her hair some more, as it was very dry). Her hair now smells strongly of the conditioner, which isn’t a bad smell, but you may choose to give her hair a rinse to knock down the smell a bit. Her arms are both a little loose, but still hold poses. I see a couple of scratches or something like that on the left side of her face – one right under her eye and one right next to her lip going toward the cheek. Both feet and hands look great to me. Swimsuit is still nice and cheery, although I notice a light discoloration on the front striped center part. Brush has some wonky bristles, comb looks good. Headband is a little more oval than her head and isn’t really gold tone anymore. Thankfully, she wasn’t stored with it on her head (so there’s no green on her head or face). Face paint is in amazing shape! My home is smoke-free and pet-free, but her original home may not have been. I don’t smell smoke on her, however, and have given her a good cleaning in addition to washing her hair. She’s got such a presence to her! I can’t really explain it. So peaceful and pretty!
