Vintage Vantine’s Oriental Store Kewpie Style Bisque Dolls Original Box & Note. What a lovely and rare find! Two vintage Kewpie style bisque porcelain dolls with jointed arms. They come in a gorgeous colorful box with the name of the importer, “Vantine’s” Oriental Store in New York. The babies were given as a shower gift in 1929 as it is indicated on the attached handwritten note. On one side it says, “Here’s wishing you hope, here’s wishing you joy, we hope one is a girl, and the other a boy”. On the back it says, “Carrie’s (arrow up) Raugh Shower 1929″. The babies are nestled in a bassinet handmade out of a wash cloth, the note is attached to the front with a safety pin. Pre-owned vintage gift in good condition, dolls have no defects, box has one taped corner.
