Here’s the beautiful vintage Plantation Belle outfit for Barbie! This outfit is in Near Mint and Almost Complete condition; the pink pearl earrings are reproduction, but everything else here is vintage original Mattel. It’s a rather hard to find outfit, as it was only produced the first 2 years of Barbie’s production, and the outfit has many small accessories. This outfit is a gorgeous sheer, summery fashion that shows the’50s Dior influence, with its full skirted and tiny waisted sillhouette. I love the way this outfit looks on the early ponytails. Please note that my photo lighting makes the hat’s plastic brim look much yellower and darker than it is. My lighting also makes the old glue on the front of the handbag look darker than it really is. In reality those items look quite nice. If you have a question that I haven’t answered in my description, please ask me. Barbie’s pale pink dotted swiss dress looks clean, and it’s rows of lace are undamaged. I do notice a small bit of soil at the top of the back zipper closure, but it’s very minor. Barbie’s sheer half slip has some fraying on the bow’s ends, and 1/2 of a snap needs resewing at the back closure. It has a small rusty spot at the left side, just above the middle tier section. You can see this in the back view of the slip. I don’t think it’s noticeable when the dress is on over it. No holes in the net ruffle. I do see a about 3 tiny dark specks caught inside the net ruffle that might be lint? But look like you can shake them out carefully. The lace hat is a plastic type doily with applied pink straw, and it has a little fraying at the ends of the straw ribbons. My pics make the plastic lacy part look darker than it actually is; the single pic of the hat is more accurate. The straw headband is present on the inside, but the wire originally inside the head band has broken. You can still pin the hat on, or you could find cloth covered wire to add. My pics make the pink straw handbag look yellowed on the front where the old glue is, but actually the bag looks quite nice. If you look closely, you can see that there is some old glue there, but it’s not a shocking difference in color, and most of these old handbags look that way. All of the beads and sequins are there, and the bag hasn’t raveled anywhere. The pink graduated pearl necklace and bracelet are original vintage Mattel; the bracelet is pinker than the necklace, but that often is the case with the old jewelry sets. The necklace and bracelet are nice and “pearly shiny”. The pink pearl post earrings are repro. The short white gloves are nice with no snags. The pale pink mules are marked Japan on the bottom of the right shoe. Your favorite vintage Barbie will look stunning in this outfit as she sips a Mint Julep on the porch!
