Absolutely gorgeous, vintage 1940’s? Very large, 18 inch Japanese gofun, Ichimatsu ningyo girl doll. Human hair, glass eyes, silk kimono. She is in excellent condition, the legs and feet are pristine, never unwrapped from the original rice paper wrapping. The issues are: the right thumb has been repaired, there is a split on the inner arm of the left arm and there are some slight discolorations on her face, as can be seen in the photos. The wooden base size is 21.75″ x 15.75″ x 1.25. Weight is 7.2lb. There is one chip on the edge. The height of the girl is about 19 inches, the boy is 10.25 inches wooden base is not include. It seems the face was repainted both dolls. There is color shading , and thin cracks. Girl’s hair is planted in 1 and 1 politeness by human hair. Boy’s hair is silk and it’s stuck. They wear the real hanten and loose trousers of splashed pattern made of cotton. The girl put on the cotton stuffing vest made by silk. They wear hand knit gloves and a muffler. Hello, This is a pair of vintage Japanese dolls’, a boy and a girl. They are both right around the same height with the boy being slightly smaller. The boy is 14 1/2″ and the girl is 15″. They are both on the same stands which brings their height up half an inch. I have run out of room for pictures but each hand is perfect with pale original pink polish on each nail, an example is shown in picture #12. They have lovely colorful kimonos on and each has a white foot covering, shown above. The boy has chipping to the top part of his right ear, shown above and a thin crack line under his left ear, shown above. The boy has some marks on his face and a scratch on his nose. Please enlarge picture #3. They have glass eyes and beautiful expressions. I do not see any other damage to the dolls’, except what was mentioned on the boy. Their outfits do not have any obvious holes or tears and the colors are very nice. I do not see any obvious fading. There is some soiling to the clothing from age in certain areas of the kimonos’. The boy wears a blue kimono with the top part being blue with white large polka dots and a slate blue and brown print bottom part. Underneath he wears a solid blue with white trim and this is shown in picture #11 by the picture of his feet. There is a design of Japanese men on his outfit, please view pictures of back above. The girl wears a purple kimono with yellow flowers and prints of green and yellow. Underneath she wears a orange and yellow stripe design, shown in picture #10 with the picture of her feet. VINTAGE JAPANESE GEISHA MAIKO OIRAN GOFUN DOLL. I believe my dolls are some of the most unique dolls that are available today. I don’t know much about the history of each doll, as I collect them for their beauty only. They are vintage dolls and are in good condition for their age, however they do generally show signs of natural aging such as , fading of kimono, age spots, etc. I will do my best to highlight these signs in my photos. The princess heroine of a historical drama that is widely told in Kabuki theater. The princess holds a warrior’s helmet that was blessed by Suwa god. She is a large doll standing and is in very good condition for her age. Her face, hands and feet are covered in gofun, oyster paste. The wooden base size is 21.75″ x 15.75″ x 1.25. Weight is 7.2lb. There is one chip on the edge. The height of the girl is about 19 inches, the boy is 10.25 inches wooden base is not include. It seems the face was repainted both dolls. There is color shading , and thin cracks. Girl’s hair is planted in 1 and 1 politeness by human hair. Boy’s hair is silk and it’s stuck. They wear the real hanten and loose trousers of splashed pattern made of cotton. The girl put on the cotton stuffing vest made by silk. They wear hand knit gloves and a muffler.
