Today we are offering a Vintage piece from one of the 40 years of collections we are downsizing. This is a Kokeshi Dolls, HandMade in Japan, complete Checker set. Board is full size that folded in half becomes a box protection and storage for them. It is finished on the edges, hand painted of course, with Fuchsia and Blue flowers & green leaves in a garland around the complete board. I believe the flowers are Camellias which are often one of the flowers that Kokeshi have painted on their Kimonos. The checkers are all hand painted, of course, and appear to be identical although close inspection shows the tiny differences present in hand painting duplicates. The Kokeshi Checkers are 1″ across the base and 1-1/2″ tall. I must add that in all my years of collecting I have never seen another. It was the one of the stars of Kokeshi Loves. That’s what I named my collection. I adore it but my beloved Kokeshi must find new collections to house them. It is time for that and although I still adore every one of them, it’s my duty to see them back to the Universe where I found them. However, if you check my feedback you will see we are to be trusted. We take as many photos as we can show with any faults listed and shown. Both photos and descriptions are a part of condition and we exercise that fully. If there is a problem we will fix it and bring it to a 5 star total. Our reputation is Primary to us.
