This is a vintage Japanese Creative Kokeshi (Sosaku Kokeshi) handmade by Toa Sekiguchi (1942-) Title: “Hanagoromo” (Floral Robe, Blossom Kimono). This is a beautiful kokeshi doll featuring a blue-based kimono adorned with delicate floral patterns. The elegant color combination creates a calm yet refined impression. The artist, Toa Sekiguchi, is a highly respected kokeshi craftsman who has received the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award. Making his works especially valued among collectors. Creative Kokeshi emerged in mid-20th century Japan and are individually designed works that emphasize artistic expression, natural wood, and unique character rather than regional lineage.
